The Road Ahead..Governor Uzodimma’s 2nd Term In Focus

             [ *PART ONE*  ]

By. Prince Eze Ugochukwu

Come January 15, 2024, Senator Hope Uzodimma will be sworn in for his second term in office as the governor of Imo State.

Despite the political machinations and duplicity of some of his opponents, Governor Uzodimma was able to win a landslide victory in his bid for a second term. This is a testament to his strength of character, his steadfastness in the face of adversity, and his ability to stay true to his convictions. Despite the challenges he faced, he remained focused on his vision for a better future for Imo State, and the people responded to that with their votes. His victory is a shining example of the power of integrity and dedication in the face of adversity.

The “Road Ahead” will be a journey towards greater progress and prosperity. Undoubtedly, the focus will be on building on the foundations laid in the first term, while also taking bold and innovative steps towards a brighter future. From infrastructure development to education and healthcare, the goal remains to improve the quality of life for all citizens and residents of Imo state.

Governor Uzodimma is well known for his determination, hard work, and courage and will not relent in his quest to leave an enduring legacy for Imo State. Therefore, the road ahead will be paved with success, making Imo State a shining example of what is possible.

In his first tenure, Governor Uzodimma concentrated on tackling the infrastructural deficit in Imo State bearing in mind that good infrastructure is a key pillar of economic growth. He will continue to focus on this area which is critical for the state’s success knowing fully well that infrastructure is the foundation upon which the rest of the economy is built: – essential for businesses to operate, for goods and services to be transported, it will improve connectivity and accessibility within the state, making it easier for people to travel and conduct business. Also, infrastructure development will open up new areas for development, leading to the creation of jobs and the expansion of the economy. Finally, it will increase tourism and investment in the state, further boosting the economy. Overall, the benefits of improved road infrastructure are wide-reaching and transformative.

In his second term, the governor will continue his investment, commitment, continuation and expansion of his policies and programs in key areas.

The governor is already committed to making a positive impact on the lives of the people of Imo State with his focus on skills acquisition. Youth unemployment will continue to be tackled by focusing on skills acquisition through digital training of Imo youths. Governor Uzodimma’s administration will continue to address this problem by providing young people with the skills and training they need to secure meaningful employment and become entrepreneurs. The government has empowered many youths in his first tenure to become productive members of society and improve their own lives. This will be sustained not only to reduce unemployment, but also help to stimulate economic growth and reduce poverty. Ultimately, skills acquisition is a key factor in ensuring the long-term development and prosperity of Imo state.

Education plays a vital role in economic growth, and it is encouraging to note that Governor Uzodimma placed a strong emphasis on education during his first tenure. Education is a key driver of innovation and productivity, and it is essential for creating a skilled workforce that can compete in the global economy. Additionally, education helps to reduce poverty by providing people with the skills they need to secure employment and improve their standard of living.

Access to affordable healthcare is crucial for the people of Imo State. Here again, the governor will expand the gains already recorded. Through the Imo State Health Insurance Agency, the governor has made sure that the poor and vulnerable have access to the services they need to maintain their health and well-being. The state health insurance program, which has touched over 148,525 people, provides access to essential healthcare services including primary care, medications, and surgery. The program is particularly beneficial for those who would otherwise not be able to afford these services.

In addition, the governor has made efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure by building new hospitals and renovating health centres across the wards in the state. These initiatives have improved the health and well-being of the people of Imo State.

Tackling insecurity will remain a crucial part of ensuring the long-term stability and success of Imo State. Much resources have been invested in security initiatives covering the police, military and other agencies to protect people and property in the state. The governor will also expand the scope of investment in social programs as a way of addressing the root causes of insecurity, such as poverty and lack of opportunity. Overall, the governor will continue taking a comprehensive approach to addressing insecurity to set the state on a path towards a more peaceful and prosperous future.

Agriculture is a critical sector of the economy and plays a vital role in the economic growth value chain. The governor recognizes that the agriculture sector not only provides food for the people but also generates income and employment opportunities. By supporting farmers and encouraging innovation, the government will ensure that the sector continues to grow and thrive. Already the One Kindred, One Business Initiative (OKOBI) of the governor is a growing program where communities and kindreds can come together to set up and run local businesses mostly within the agric sector. OKOBI has sparked enthusiasm among numerous individuals and groups, all eager to
establish prosperous sustainable and lucrative joint business ventures. The initiative’s ambitious goal is to facilitate the establishment of 5,000 sustainable group-owned enterprises, each capable of employing at least
10 people, thereby providing gainful employment for over 50,000 Imo citizens in the coming year.

There will be greater emphasis on rural development. Improvements will be made towards providing access to basic services such as healthcare, education, and clean water to rural dwellers.

The advancement of the Shared Prosperity agenda will usher in a new era of progress and development for Imo State. Under this agenda, the state will become a model for equitable and inclusive growth, with opportunities for all citizens to prosper. The state will continue to invest in infrastructure, education, and healthcare, while also promoting entrepreneurship and innovation. It will be a place where people can come together to create a better future for themselves and their families. The narrative of Imo State going forward will be one of hope, resilience, and prosperity for all.

Governor Uzodimma Will Triumph Over His Traducers Because No Movement Based On Hate Has Ever Survived

*IMO STATE PUBLIC ENLIGHTENMENT*

“Governor Uzodimma Will Triumph Over His Traducers Because, “No Movement Based On Hate Has Ever Survived”

By Prince Eze Ugochukwu

“Throughout history, hate has always been the easy path, the path of least resistance. . . It’s easier to find a scapegoat for a problem than to try to make things better ourselves…,”

That was actor Arnold Schwarzenegger urging anti-semites to abandon their hateful ideologies.

According to Arnold, “You will not find success on the end of that road… there has never been a successful movement based on hate.”

. “I don’t care how many hateful things you may have written online. I don’t care how often you’ve marched carrying that hateful flag or what hateful things you may have said in anger…your hearts and your minds were equally riddled with guilt.” he declared.

What a powerful indictment on those who has chosen hate as a pathway to success.

This powerful message from Arnold Schwarzenegger may equally serve as an indictment on those within the opposition in Imo State who has chosen to unleash hate against Governor Hope Uzodimma. Those who employ hate mongering as their only pathway to win election. Their campaign which is based on hate filled lies will not survive in the long run as hatred is not sustainable as a motivating force.

We all know that it is criminals, agitators, politicians, and armed non state actors that are responsible for disturbing the peace in our land. No one else. Not Hope Uzodimma. We know also that Uzodimma has stood against the incursion of criminal elements into our society and has deployed more resources in fighting crime than most. Yet some opposition elements latched on the issue of insecurity to push hateful narratives against him. It may seem powerful in the short term, but in any case, it has also eroded their sense of empathy and compassion.

The opposition in Imo State has lost empathy and compassion for the victims of insecurity and without these qualities, they can never sustain themselves irrespective of how hard they try.

The opposition campaigns are based on hate. They encourage and align with violent and destructive tendencies which has ultimately caused their csmpsign to collapse under their own weight.

Their hate filled campaign has alienated their allies and potential supporters, thus making it impossible for them to build a coalition of support. No wonder they have failed to build quality coalitions against Governor Uzodimma but has rather lost followers and supporters in droves.

If you observe what is happening recently with the opposition in Imo State you will notice that their hate-filled campaign is  collapsing under its own weight. This is because it lacks the ability to sustain itself over time. Hate is an emotion that requires constant reinforcement to maintain its intensity. Without new sources of hate, their gullible followers have now become exhausted and disillusioned with the opposition campaign.

While Uzodimma is busy building coalitions, fostering unity and inclusion, those with hate-filled campaigns are alienating potential allies, making it difficult for them to build a coalition of support.Their hate-filled campaigns have become counterproductive and self-defeating, as they have turned not only their own members but the public against themselves.

Negative things have expiry date. Lies and hate are often intertwined, as the former is used to justify the latter. However, over time, the constant barrage of lies wears down even the most ardent supporters. When people realize that they have been deceived, they feel angry and betrayed, which leads to disillusionment and exhaustion.
Besides, the constant stress and anxiety caused by the constant lies begins to take a toll on people’s mental and physical health, leading to a sense of burnout.

The opposition camp in Imo State are burnt out and stressed out. This is why their leaders and supporters are now abandoning the major opposition parties and joining hands with the governor.

The opposition candidates  and their few supporters are now experiencing cognitive dissonance which occurs when people are confronted with information that contradicts their existing beliefs. In this case, the half-truths have caused opposition supporters to question their own campaign claims and motives, leading to a feeling of dissonance and stress. The constant need to defend their campaign’s false message has also taken a toll resulting in a state of mental and emotional exhaustion.

Only men with minds riddled with guilt will build their campaign on hate, lies, and half-truths. They will never ever redeem themselves in the eyes of the public. The damage they have done is too great to be undone, and their campaign are now suffering the consequences of their actions.

This is a good reminder to the Imo opposition candidates and their supporters that it is always best to be honest and truthful, as these are the qualities that will ultimately lead to success. Honesty and truthfulness build trust and credibility. No wonder people and organizations are flocking to Hope Uzodimma in their numbers. Uzodimma is a man people can trust.

When people know that they can rely on someone to tell them the truth, they are more likely to listen to what that person has to say. When people know that they can trust someone to be honest, they can hold that person accountable if they fail to live up to their promises. Honesty and truthfulness are simply the right thing to do. They are core values that we should all strive to live by.

Those opposition  candidate’s who tacitly support criminal activities has helped to create an environment where violence and disorder rears their ugly heads. These candidates have zero ability to govern with integrity since they are willing to turn a blind eye to criminal activities.

Ultimately, this type of behaviour calls into question the very foundation of these candidate’s campaigns and fitness for the office of governor.

Why Uzodimma Will Make A Greater Impact In His 2nd Term: ~ Prince Eze Ugochukwu

Why Uzodimma Will Make A Greater Impact In His 2nd Term

By: Prince Eze Ugochukwu

With only a month to go to the November 11th governorship election in Imo State, the approaching victory of His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodimma will furnish him with the prospect of making an even greater impact than he did during his first tenure.

No matter how you look at it and no matter your inclinations, Governor Uzodimma has employed his first tour of duty to garner all the necessary executive experience needed to push forward and create more positive outcomes for Imo people. He would also have learned from mistakes, if any. The governor will also have extra time to implement his agenda and make progress on the programs and projects that are important to him.

There is no gainsaying that Governor Uzodimma did very well in his first tenure. Therefore his serving a second term will give birth to the opportunity to make an even greater impact than he did during his first term. This is because he has a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the state, coupled with the experience and knowledge to make more informed decisions.

Additionally, a second term gives the Governor more time to see his initiatives through to completion and to build on the progress he has already made.

Looking at the overall historical balance of power in Imo State, one needs to take cognizance of the call for a Charter of Equity. The truth is that this can only be midwifed using the apparatus of a seating governor. Therefore, a second term in office will allow Governor Uzodimma to build relationships with other politicians and develop a stronger support network to fully implement the Charter which is designed to rotate power seamlessly to other zones of Imo State without acrimony.

From a broader strategic perspective, very enlightened, appreciative and discerning Imo people are desirous that the Governor be allowed to continue working on the initiatives, programs, and policies that he has already started. Projects like the dredging of the Urashi River into the Atlantic Ocean, the planned Independent Power Plant, the Oil and Gas Free Trade Zone, the upgrade of the Sam Mbakwe International Airport, the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone, plus the infrastructural revolution. They want Governor Uzodimma to build on the progress he has already made, and make a bigger impact. This is understandable.

Now, if we look at the national level, as patriots, it’s obvious that Governor Uzodimma has established an incredible nationwide presence and credibility, which will help him to be more effective in the future. As the current Chairman of both the Progressive Governors Forum and the South East Governors Forum, Uzodimma is well positioned to leverage these platforms to attract needed projects into Imo State and the South East as a region. His recent triumphant troubleshooting engagement with the Lagos State government on behalf of Igbo traders is a case in point.

Most importantly, a 2nd term will allow the governor to cement his legacy and leave a lasting impact on the annals of history. No matter what we may think, cementing a legacy is important for all politicians for several reasons.

First, it ensures that their work will be remembered and appreciated for years to come. Second, it helps to shape the way that future generations will view and remember their achievements. Third, it can serve as an inspiration for others to follow in their footsteps and make a positive impact in their state.

So as a politician who has achieved so extensively over the years, and as someone who has impacted the lives of so many people, Governor Uzodimma would like his work to be remembered and appreciated for years to come.

Even as a scion of Igbo Royalty, a second term will also serve as a source of pride for Uzodimma and his family.

For all of these reasons; cementing a legacy is an integral and important part of a politician’s career, and that’s the more reason Governor Uzodimma deserves our hands of companionship to navigate his constitutional two tenures to a maximum realization.

ECSTATIC JUBILATION FROM IMO WORKERS AS UZODIMMA SPENT TIME WITH THEM TODAY

” We will stop at nothing in making sure that this State is developed “ ~ Hope Uzodimma.

~ Uzodimma

*” The dredging of Oguta Lake into the Atlantic is coming with an industrial cluster under our Natural Gas Expansion and Gas Optimization program. The cluster will berth a liquified natural gas plant, a petrochemical plant, a fertilizer plant and other gas based industrial plants. In all, an estimated minimum of one million jobs will be created
~ *Governor Uzodimma*

The Imo State Governor, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CoN, today undertook a working visit to the Imo State Secretariat Owerri.

The visit afforded him another opportunity to rub minds with civil servants who trooped out in their numbers to welcome him with joy and excitement.

The Governor after touring the complex vowed to continue to improve the welfare and working conditions of the workers across board.

He reminded them of the free
transportation and the free health care and insurance scheme, the promotion across board which he has provided for them and revealed that more buses will be added to their fleet soon.

“I care for you and I want the best for you and mark my words I will do even more” the Governor told them

Continuing he said, “When I see the permanent secretaries riding in the comfort of their official vehicles and enjoying the respect they deserve, I feel a sense of fulfillment; When I realised that our civil service is now automated and a seamless system in place for payment of salaries and transactions of government businesses, I feel proud of all of you…. when I know that everyone of you knows exactly how much is due to him or her as salary at the end of the month, I have a sense of fulfillment”.

Referring the Civil Service as the engine room of government, he assured that his administration will work full-time with the civil service for the realisation of the prosperity agenda of the government for the benefit of the people and to achieve this, the need to elevate the working environment and improve workers welfare became paramount as
workers need to be motivated to be able to do their jobs.

Governor Uzodimma disclosed that
the prompt and regular payment of salaries and pensions by his administration has brought a new lease of life to the workers and it has also enhance the economy of the state. “I’m glad to announce to you that arrangements are at advanced stages to commence the payment of gratuities to all our gallant men and women who spent their energetic youthful years rendering valuable services to our state; we will never forget their sacrifices”.

“I’m sure you will not forget in a hurry that once upon a time your salaries were neither regular not fixed…. There were times when you did not know your actual take-home pay at the end of the month; those days were the days you were in Egypt…. I’m happy for you because those days are now gone”

While narrating from the Bible, Governor Uzodimma shared with the workers, the story of the relationship between God and the Israelites whom he liberated from Egypt. He told them that while the Israelites were in the wilderness, God not only gave them what they wanted but occasionally reminded them of his deeds for them, just to juggle their memories towards repentance and appreciation of his benevolence. ” So we are here as agents and everything we have done for you as a government is from God not from us; so what we try to charge you is that if we are able as a government to resist the temptation of diverting your money, to resist the temptation of taking away what belongs to you and to remain resilient to temptations and aggressions and to commit ourselves to your welfare and the upbringing of your children, you should be able to resist the temptations that will come from agents of satan and remain focused….I charge you not to forget in a hurry that Imo State was almost gone and right things became the wrong things”

The Governor assured the workers that despite limited resources, he is determined to deploy creative thinking in prudently allocating the lean resources to be able to touch all sectors of the economy.

November Election In Imo State -Need for a sustained peaceful atmosphere ~ Prince Eze Ugochukwu

IMO STATE PUBLIC ENLIGHTENMENT

November Election In Imo State -Need for a sustained peaceful atmosphere.

By: Prince Eze Ugochukwu

“Warfare should only be a last resort and heading into battle is already admitting a kind of defeat”~ Sun Tzu

“It is better to “appear weak when you are strong” ~ Sun Tzu

Sun Tzu was a Chinese military strategist whose writings are still studied in military academies, thousands of years after it was first written.

In “The Art of War”, Sun Tzu proclaimed that “Warfare should only be a last resort and heading into battle is already admitting a kind of defeat”

That is why the unprovoked warfare and failed disruption of the Iriji Mbaise festival by Senator Samuel Anyanwu while Governor Hope Uzodimma was addressing the crowd is a clear admission of defeat ahead of the November 11th governorship election in Imo State. After all, warfare should only be a last resort and heading into battle is already admitting a kind of defeat.

We must not allow the attempted disruption of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s address at the Iriji Mbaise to fly under the radar.

That disturbance at Aboh Mbaise merits more attention, as the stage is being set for the state’s governorship election in November 2023.

One thing is clear, the invasion of the event at Mbaise by the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party accompanied by menacing youths has not inspired confidence and signposts ill for the future. It is not too early for men of goodwill to speak up and encourage a more peaceful atmosphere.

There is a school of thought in politics that fire for fire is the only menu that can serve a ceasefire, so those who attempted to disrupt the Governor have invariably fired the first shot and should not expect to be treated with kid gloves going forward.

The rationale for that shameful manoeuvre is very obvious. It is purely political which has generated
widespread anger against the PDP governorship candidate. What is more surprising is the gloating and celebration of the absurd and condemnable incident by his few followers which is a clear pointer that they may in the future conduct further unruly behaviours to hug public attention.

Now that the PDP has implemented a deliberate strategy of chaos and orchestrated violence at the Iriji Mbaise, some have warned of more violence from the PDP following the euphoric media blitz by the party.
This shows they could instigate more tensions, possibly skirmishes.

But we should never lose sight that His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodimma is an exceptional strategic battlefield commander.
As Sun Tzu advised, it is better to “appear weak when you are strong”

We all know that the PDP governorship ticket is very weak. Their brigandage at Mbaise is merely to seem strong although with wobbly legs.

“Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win”. By first going to war at Mbaise, the dying PDP has surely lost the November 11th governorship election.

THE COLLABO – A Disgraced Minority Rooting For The Other Side ~ Prince Eze Ugochukwu

*IMO STATE PUBLIC ENLIGHTENMENT*

THE COLLABO – A Disgraced Minority Rooting For The Other Side.

By Prince Eze Ugochukwu

We must be very careful with the forthcoming governorship election in Imo State to avoid a partnership with devils. Amongst the politicians justling for space are active participants in the insecurity we are experiencing. They took their place among those who flow with the current.

The most interesting thing about collaborators is their skill in exploiting the fissures in society and wiggling their way through the cracks in their quest for power.

Out of opportunism, some Imo politicians became accomplices to the criminalities that ravaged the state.

For the sake of history, we must remember and acknowledge the complicities and atrocities of some politicians who opted to go along with the political current, out of comfort or apathy, and the sufferings meted out to our people as a result. In doing what they did, these politicians helped support the slaughter of hundreds of Imo people and became accomplices.

While the killings were being carried out, some Imo politicians pretended to have no idea about what was going on. They feigned ignorance. But they also harboured hatred and contempt for the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma. Some of them are now running for the governorship of Imo State. Some were much more sinister and exploited the people’s anguish.

But the collaboration was much more than an opportunist’s game. It was fundamentally a political choice made by responsible men, and it had far-reaching consequences for the entire Imo State and its people.

Consider the wickedness of those members of the opposition who chose to collaborate with the unknown gunmen and provided lists of Governor Uzodimma’s appointees and their whereabouts for assassination. Many appointees had their heads cut off.

Sometimes, you don’t want to understand what’s going on; you want to blind yourself. The truth is that by resisting and denouncing the bandits publicly, Uzodimma became a hero who represented the true spirit of the Imo people.

Some Imo politicians choose the public space to misinform the people. This is dangerous too. They will contend that the governor has all the constitutional powers to secure the state. But we know these are pure lies, yet the naive would laud them based on sentiments that are not grounded in reality. Do state governors honestly have the power to secure their states under the current constitution?

There are also those politicians who hide under the protection of so-called freedom, democracy and human rights to poison the Imo society, causing violence, hatred and turmoil with innocent blood being spilt daily, property ransacked, banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, and other organised crimes.

They forgot that state security outfits have no power to arraign a criminal except the Nigeria Police comes in under the present constitution. In a situation whereby state security outfits arrest but cannot directly prosecute, that is one weak link in the chains of what a state governor and his security team can do, as one opinion writer stated.

In conclusion, politicians should be reminded that there are matters regarding state security outfits as to whether or not states can purchase firearms. Not long ago, the Office of the National Security Adviser stated that no state could import arms for its security outfits. These are the same state governors that opponents say have all the powers to secure their states. People must ignore these politicians riding on the back of insecurity for fame and power. They don’t mean well by spreading disinformation and lies.

What you see mostly are bitter politicians with grudges against Governor Hope Uzodimma who want to taint his good image and nothing is objective in what they say.
They talk badly of people they dislike, present others as demons, and in the process mislead the public.

South East Nigeria: IN TIMES OF UNCERTAINTY: ~ Prince Eze Ugochukwu

IN TIMES OF UNCERTAINTY

“All the Service Chiefs In The Country Will Be Meeting With The Five(5) South East Governors – And there is no other item we are discussing apart from the security of the South East” ~ *Governor Hope Uzodimma*

By: Prince Eze Ugochukwu.

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State with other South East Governors.

It is an era of uncertainty in the South East region of Nigeria as it faces unusual challenges and tension, occasioned by insecurity. The ever-increasing complexities of the problem have posed mind-boggling and daunting challenges to the leaders of the region both politicians, clerics, and traditional and social leaders.

If there was ever a time good leadership is needed, it is now as the region cannot afford individuals ill-equipped, or overwhelmed in the
the face of the growing challenges.

It is truly a tough period to be a leader. Right now, the Governors and other sociocultural leaders in Igboland are experiencing very difficult situations, which is not easy. After all, they are human, and it’s tough to stay secure when you don’t know what’s going to happen next.

Regardless, there appears to be a new united approach in the way the South East Governors have decided to approach the issue of insecurity bedevilling the region. They are beginning to set an example of how to stick out and project a common purpose as a team.

We saw the new united approach when some leaders joined Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State to broker peace in Lagos, and when they gathered again at the Imo State Government lodge in Abuja for a mini-security roundtable.

It seems like the South East region is looking up to the Imo State Governor to steer from the front being the Chairman of the South East Governors Forum. But beyond that office, Uzodimma has showcased valuable leadership skills, enthusiasm, energy, commitment, empathy, and requisite communication prowess to galvanize and work in unison with others.

Governor Hope Uzodimma has illustrated that the art of leading from the front is more than just grabbing a front-seat position. He has demonstrated that it is about inclusion, working together with your peers as a team, being a role model, and setting the tone on how things should be done.

Uzodimma has become an inspiring personality in the eyes of many. His unflinching optimistic attitude, capacity to endure unfounded destructive criticisms, strong interpersonal skills, resilience, empathy, and insights into complicated issues are beginning to motivate people not only in his state but the entire South East.

It’s very easy to misunderstand Governor Uzodimma being a man of few words. But in pursuit of difficult and daunting problems, he has always exemplified the type of seriousness of action that overcomes challenges.

All in all, the anticipated meeting between the Nigerian Service Chiefs
with the five South East Governors is a very welcome development at an uncertain like this.

For this singular initiative, Governor Uzodimma along with his colleagues has demonstrated that unity of purpose is a strategic pathway to success. The strong sense of initiative and collaboration is a welcome development.

“We are talking about the impact of our growth plan and economic recovery. It’s like building a house. We must set out the plan, set out the pillars…We must design what is implementable, and that is what we are doing” ~ Hope Uzodimma.

One thing going for the Imo State Governor is the ability to make everything that he is involved with very successful. He’s the man with the Midas touch

Another focus of Governor Hope Uzodimma is to elevate the Sam Mbakwe Internal Cargo Airport, Owerri to (acceptable) international status by procuring and installing those navigational equipment and aviation devices that will enhance safety and 24-hour landing operations.

To achieve this goal, the Governor has commenced the process for the installation of night and bad weather landing facilities at the Imo airport.

An appraisal carried out today revealed that the Consultant/Contractor has mobilized to the site where moulding of the manhole chambers for the 32 cable lines for the ducking system has started.

It will be recalled that the Governor had disclosed that his government considers the Airport as pivotal and foremost to his vision to boost the state’s economy.

Speaking today during an assessment visit to the airport, the Imo State Commissioner for Special Projects, Hon. Chief Stanley Obidiegwu remarked that the Sam Mbakwe airport is critical to the economy of the state, pointing out that the state government has been able to do a lot of things at the airport within a short period, comprising the already completed dualisation of the airport road and the ongoing environmental transformation project among others.

“I will convey furthermore that, even though it is a Federal airport, the airport was originally built by Imo people for the use of all, and the Governor has been able to work closely with the federal agencies to elevate parts of the airport; in keeping with his Shared Prosperity Agenda to enhance the Imo economy”, Hon. Obidiegwu pointed out.

Governor Uzodimma had in his address to Traditional Rulers in Imo State while making a presentation of vehicles to their Local Government Chairmen and State Executive let out that “When we have night landing facilities, our brothers and sisters who are coming home from outside the country during this Christmas period will land in Owerri at night.

“Very soon harmattan will start and local flights are only allowed at night. And those who must come back will land in Port Harcourt or land in other neighbouring States, and then begin to come by road to Imo State.

“When we have facilities for night flight and navigation, they will fly straight into Owerri and if there is a need for them to sleep overnight before going to the villages, they will patronize our hotels.

“We are talking about the impact of our growth plan and economic recovery. It’s like building a house. We must set out the plan, set out the pillars…We must design what is implementable, and that is what we are doing”

THE Honourable Commissioner for Special Projects also inspected the ongoing Imo State Internal Conference Centre under construction.

Speaking at the Conference Centre today, Chief Obidiegwu noted that it is very necessary for Imo State to have a conference centre of global standard since Owerri has become one of the fastest-growing cities in Nigeria with the attendant need for high-scale infrastructures.

The new international conference centre has a 4,000 seating capacity (main hall), a gallery, a medium conference hall, offices, an elevator and 24 toilets for both men and women.

The idea, he said, “is predicated on providing facilities and services for a safe, warm, and welcoming environment that offers every guest a pleasant experience…All those who grace our doors in Imo State will have an experience that is fulfilling, both physically, and emotionally”.

He declared that the Governor knows the heartbeat of his people; their yearnings and aspirations, thus the more reason why he is bequeathing to Imo people exactly that which they desire and deserve in the positive sense of it. He is doing that which he promised the people, he said.

The indigenous contractor handling the International Conference Centre project, Sir Benneth Nwokejiobi equally hailed the vision and mission of the Governor targeted at making Imo State a centre of commerce and hospitality.

In her address, the unveiler of the law report, Justice Mary Odili(Rtd) recounted her invitation to the event.

“The Attorney General invited me just a few days ago. I didn’t even know my husband will permit me to go out, but he asked me to go”

Continuing, Justice Odili said, ” I have been called upon to unveil the law report, but we are unveiling Governor Uzodimma on his legacy projects. This great man has silently put in place historic infrastructures and has done that which has been left unattended for more than 20 years.

She said, “The High Court is the real battleground of adjudication and any case damaged in the High Court may not be repaired at the Appeal Court.

“Mr Governor, God will bless you. God have blessed you my Governor and will continue to bless you. By embarking on this law report, showing the hard work of the judges of Imo State and the work of lawyers in Imo State, it will encourage them to work extra hard knowing that their labour will not be forgotten.

“As we are unveiling this book, we are unveiling Governor Hope Uzodimma to continue with his good works” Justice Odili said.
