*The ill-fated And Misdirected Attacks Against The Imo State Government – The awful agony of losers*

By: Prince Eze Ugochukwu

Adolf Hitler had high hopes for his conquest of Norway. He was determined to take and keep Norway. However, his ambitious northern campaign foundered and ultimately failed. Hitler’s grand expectations were never realized. It was greatly hampered by flawed strategic thinking. – ( Adam Claasen).

The invasion of Norway was strategically wrong because it reduced Germany’s ability to influence other important theatres of war as resources remained committed to Norway. Eventually, Hitler lost Norway and the war.

Juxtapose the Hitler episode with the present campaign by opposition candidates for the November 11th 2023 governorship election in Imo State to occupy the Government House. Their misdirected attacks on the Governor based on a flawed solo strategy of using insecurity is one of the most disastrous campaign blunders any candidate can make. It is quite clear that such attacks do not make any impact, which is a shame to those engaged in them. Like Hitler, their concentration of all their war arsenal on a single front of attack, (insecurity) has reduced their ability to think, formulate, suggest or proffer explanations in other areas. No health, infrastructure, education, youth development, or any other plan whatsoever.

I’ve always wanted to know what it is about the workings of the human brain that lead so many people to mistakenly adopt offensive mudslinging campaigns against their opponents.

The truth is that almost all the candidates vying to unseat Governor Hope Uzodimma are ill-prepared for the job. They mostly base their ill-fated ambitions on empty rhetoric’s and anger attacks against the Governor in an attempt to stoke discord and bring disharmony.

Predictably, all their communication strategies is to paint Imo State black to the world and frighten residents and potential investors.

We have heard them suggest that there is nothing to show in the three and half years of the Uzodimma administration in terms of positive impacts that benefit the people of Imo State. This at best is very dubious and gossip spreading and  mirrors their level of lack of appreciation of what governance is all about.

Facts on ground do not support the false narrative of non-performance against the present Imo State Government.

Imo State was a state that lost all it’s glory due to mal administration that spanned close to a decade. The health sector was in shambles, waste management reached epidemic level, and infrastructure, especially the roads were horrible with a decade of almost zero investment. The state was caving in under the yoke of unimaginative rulers. The civil service was in disarray with inefficiency and low productivity. That was the Imo State Senator Hope Uzodimma inherited from his predecessors.

Governor Uzodimma was not deterred. Immediately after his swearing in, he got to work by putting on his thinking cap.

He decided to tackle the problems through his five policy agenda encapsulated under reconstruction, rehabilitation and recovery. (The 3R)
agenda.

The first step was the total overhaul of government agencies and bureaucracy to achieve efficiency and enhance service delivery.

First was the over bloated payroll system which he quickly automated to weed out criminals and ghost workers. Then he proceeded to save the citizens, especially residents of Owerri capital city from a looming epidemic from waste-born diseases. Here, Governor Uzodimma quickly established the Imo State Waste Management Agency to frontally tackle the problem of waste management and disposal.Over a dozen brand new waste disposal trucks were procured coupled with dump crates strategically placed at different parts of the city as drop points for domestic wastes.

Another groundbreaking initiative of the Uzodimma administration was the creation of Imo State Traffic Management Authority (ISTMA) to untangle traffic bottlenecks in Owerri. The agency has seriously put to an end traffic congestions in Owerri.

Land as a critical asset did not escape the eyes of the Governor who set up the Imo State Geographic Information Service (IGIS) to administer and manage land assets in a proper ICT driven process, devoid of land racketeering and any form of illegal, opaque land transactions.

To protect the weak and the vulnerable in Imo State, the Uzodimma administration empowered the Imo State Health Insurance Agency (IMSHIA) to undertake the provision of free healthcare services for the less privileged and civil servants across the state.

The Uzodimma administration has pioneered a revolution with ambitious infrastructural renewal projects in key sectors like roads, public buildings, health centres etc.
Uzodimma is the first Nigerian Governor to establish a Ministry of Digital Economy and e-Government for digital skills training for thousands of Imo youths.

Today, Imo State is re-discovering her lost glory, climbing out of its former depressing status with newly built first class infrastructures and social services.

The opponents of the Governor are jittery considering the array of sectoral accomplishments so far recorded. No wonder they are ready to throw anything to achieve their objective.

It is rather sad the opponents of the Governor can go so low to fan the embers of hate using the issue of insecurity which they instigated and encouraged in the first place. Fortunately Imo people are very discerning and truly appreciative of the tremendous efforts of the Governor to secure Imo State from the insecurity that ravaged the entire South East states.

Even at that, no Governor in the South East has done more than Governor Hope Uzodimma to combat insecurity, as all the necessary support equipments and logistics has been procured and provided for the security agencies.

But Imo people are not really surprised. The opposition campaigns has never been about issues. The opponent’s campaign strategies are never anchored on what they are capable of doing. It has always been about how to discredit Uzodimma and demonise his government.

Imo State: Just A Bunch Of Doom & Gloom Preachers. By Prince Eze Ugochukwu

*IMO STATE PUBLIC ENLIGHTENMENT*

*Just A Bunch Of Doom And
Gloom Preachers – Opposite of HOPE*

By: Prince Eze Ugochukwu.

The (mis) Fortune tellers and preachers are here again. The big business of selling predictions has arrived in Imo State, and as God may have it; nobody is buying their predictions.

We have read that the number one profession in the world is prostitution, but it appears that opposition candidates in the upcoming Imo State governorship election are the rightful owners of the first slot. They are number one in the profession of preaching and predicting doom and gloom for Imo State.

The candidates of the opposition parties use the news media to flood us every day with forecasts of all types. You will read that Imo State has been taken over by herdsmen, unknown gunmen, bandits and the like. All of these are lies and at best mere concortions. The opposition, thrives on false prophecy against the wellbeing of Imo State.

For these opposition candidates, their track records are very poor, whether we consider their public service records or their love for their fellow human being. In fact, these opposition voodoo candidates were unable to predict the major events that led to the implosion and disintegration of their own political parties which caught them by total surprise. Wherein lies their power of prophesy on saving Imo people when they can’t save themselves.

Be that as it may, it is understandable if we graciously allow them to enjoy their few months of fame before sinking them back into the ranks of mediocres which they truly are. That date is November 11th 2023.

History follows a certain pattern, which is observable and which can be used to forecast the future course of events.

Looking back at the political history of those jumping around to unseat Governor Uzodimma, they are too obscure and essentially wayward in  human affairs and human capital development. You cannot point at any substantial role they’ve played in the lives of Imo citizens. So it’s obvious that a future left in their care will precipitate retrogeration, weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth.

These voodoo candidates have a question to answer; If they are so smart, why aren’t they able to bring peace to their respective political parties? The answer, of course, is that they lack capacity to solve any problem whatsoever. Rather, they are too busy continually inundating us with doom-and-gloom predictions just for the sake of sensationalism, which they felt will sell to voters. Foul !!!.

Every of their prediction is about the  imminent destruction of Imo State. They tell us we are all going to be killed and our houses and businesses burnt down. Just stories of countless horrors for Imo people. Although these predictions of doom have proven to be false, they however add a new layer of irresponsible politicking in our dear state – and that is, putting fear and stress to our lives.

To those who are predicting doom, I would ask the following question: how will it happen? The answer as the rock star, Bob Dylan said, is “blowing in the wind”.

Not that long ago, these doomday sayers were predicting that bandits will overrun Imo State. Yet they move around Imo State campaigning day and night, thus showing that all of those predictions have been proved wrong. So what will make their doomsday prediction right currently, when things are very much better? Yes as in every society, there have always been incidence of insecurity, and always will be. But they don’t necessarily translate into doom for Imo State where we have a professional driver with a current drivers licence piloting our affairs.

We may even say that this opposition candidates have become depression babies, and depression addicts prone to assume systemic collapse from normal troubles. Problem exists in other climes and in other areas.—States and even nations face severe challenges. Imo State is not an exception neither is it an island unto itself; after all Imo is part of the national and global community.

Nonetheless, things are better than they have been and will continue to improve to the glory of God and the doggedness of Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma.

WHY IMO WOMEN WILL VOTE FOR HOPE UZODIMMA COME NOVEMBER 2023 ~ By Prince Eze Ugochukwu

*IMO STATE PUBLIC ENLIGHTENMENT*

*IMO WOMEN WILL VOTE FOR HOPE UZODIMMA COME NOVEMBER 2023*

– *AND HERE’S WHY*

By Prince Eze Ugochukwu

*”Women have demonstrated capacity in all spheres of human endeavour, including where men could not, hence their diverse abilities should complement that of the menfolk in making the society a better place”* ~ Hope Uzodimma

Women comprise a greater percentage of the population, and they have cast more votes than men in recent elections.

Winning the female vote will be a critical component and the clincher in the 11th November 2023 governorship election in Imo State.

Thanks to his Shared Prosperity Agenda which has largely accommodated women and his other actions that have protected
the interest of women, Governor Hope Uzodimma has earned tremendous popularity with Imo women voters.

It is a well-known fact that Governor Uzodimma appointed an overwhelmingly female-heavy-weight senior cabinet and expanded executive members. Women are in charge of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ministry of Water Resources, Ministry of Women Affairs and Vulnerable Groups, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs,
and Ministry of Finance, and Coordinating Economy.

The Governor even appointed a larger share of female Special Advisers upward of thirty-five women working in his administration.

Governor Uzodimma’s vision is to create an enabling environment for women’s leadership, participation in politics and provide them with decision-making positions.

Nobody has done more to protect women and the girl child than Governor Hope Uzodimma.

As the Governor said, “The society will be incomplete if women are not fully incorporated as partners in progress in all facets of human endeavour and any society that fails to see the potentials in women and accord them their right of place does so at its peril”.

According to Uzodimma, “Women have demonstrated capacity in all spheres of human endeavour, including where men could not, hence their diverse abilities should complement that of the menfolk in making the society a better place”

One of the most notable steps taken by the Uzodimma administration to protect women was the “Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Act signed into law on December 15, 2021, which recognizes Gender-Based Violence as a form of discrimination. Today, law courts in Imo State are prosecuting gender-based violence (GBV) cases.

And in collaboration with UNICEF, the Imo State government has taken effective measures towards ending female genital mutilation (FGM) and has recently launched the Sexual Assault Referral Center (SARC) building.  At the moment, the government is working on a request to the Imo State House of Assembly for the fundamental right of a female to participate in the inheritance of her deceased father’s estate to be domesticated in Imo State. The Governor has been an advocate for the rights of the girl child.

Imo State has provided a notable number of humanitarian services to Imo women and girl children since the 3R Administration assumed office. The government have empowered widows and indigent women with economic interventions for thousands of widows and families.

For economic stability, the government, have set up small-scale businesses for widows and indigent women and, in collaboration with some philanthropists, built houses for indigent women in the State.

Through the Imo Women Empowerment Scheme, other empowerment programs are packaged in such a manner that targeted beneficiaries are chosen from across the 27 LGAs of the state. For women who indicated an interest in learning skills, the government not only trained them but also empowered them with their tools of the trade.

The Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Vulnerable Groups has also undertaken routine hospital visits to support indigent women to access better healthcare and, in some cases, offset hospital bills.

The Ministry has continued to rescue, rehabilitate, and resettle female victims of abuse and molestation while taking advocacy against gender-based violence and sexual abuse to the various communities across the state and at the same time supporting and reuniting some girls and children who were trafficked to other states in the country and around the world.

Truly, Governor Uzodimma has a deep understanding of the needs and concerns of women and has continued to approach women’s issues with empathy and compassion.

Imo women are fully recognized as the force that holds the society together, and as the Imo State 1st Lady, Barrister Chioma Uzodimma once said, “I am a woman, a mother, a sister, a wife. It is my responsibility, our responsibility, as the force that holds the society together, as the fabric that binds the unity of this land, that we stand shoulder high and be the change that we want.

That we do our part both in our homes and in the society to move our government forward. Women’s inclusion in politics and governance is no longer a rumour; it is here to stay.”

Imo State: BEHIND THE MASK OF STOKING FEAR ABOUT INSECURITY

IMO STATE PUBLIC ENLIGHTENMENT

BEHIND THE MASK OF STOKING FEAR ABOUT INSECURITY

By: Prince Eze Ugochukwu.

Even though levels of insecurity in Imo State have fallen to virtually non-existent levels and have done so for more than a year now, the opponents of the government cynically highlight insecurity as if it is a feature of everyday life for us all.

To them, the answer to every issue including husband and wife quarrels is to blame the ruling government and get them out of power.

At their outings, the opposition trumpeted issues of insecurity in Imo State by suggesting that it is so common in all householders and neighbourhoods in the state, again trying to feed their few listeners with fear. They continuously expose their intentions of getting us all scared and painting themselves as
our saviour even when they cannot place their plan for combatting insecurity on the table for analysis and appraisal.

The insecurity and fear-mongering by the opposition are destructive and cynical for many reasons. The fear of insecurity blights the state more than any actual insecurity. Out of fear, many become too scared to go out, and some people walk around scared. This is so, even when the vast majority of us will never be victims of insecurity.

And we know why they are doing this; – so that people will vote for them and save them from the embarrassing defeat facing them in the November 2023 governorship election. They hope that more people will support them and vote for them if they continue to stoke fears of insecurity. But they are wrong in many ways, unknown to them.

It is wrong and cynical to use insecurity to gain political advantage. The obvious truth is that the opposition has no verifiable plans to make Imo people safer. Most of the population, – most of the time, – are not victims of insecurity. Yes, Imo citizens can be advised to take sensible precautions with their property and their safety in the cause of their everyday activities, but stoking the fear of insecurity does more harm and affects people’s lives, and this is inappropriate.

With about four months to go before the governorship election, opposition candidates are looking to every available game to influence voters’ behaviour.

With nothing to outsmart the government with, fear tactics over insecurity have now occupied the prime position. Simply put; instilling tension and apprehension amongst voters has become an anticipatory solution to their looming defeat. They are now counting on the fear of insecurity to see if it can sway opinions. This is pure exploitation of voters at its worst.

Unfortunately, candidates opposed to Governor Hope Uzodimma have not in any way, shown that they (or their parties) are best suited to address any specific issue whatsoever including the issue of insecurity.

The opposition candidates are experimenting with the issue of insecurity. They want to see if by making people scared, they can cause them to seek comfort by joining their parties or supporting and voting for them. But, they have not shown that they are the most capable to run the affairs of Imo State better than Senator Hope Uzodimma(CON).

On a serious note, Imo people must be very careful and at the same time more observant of the opposition’s antics. From stoking the fear of insecurity using deceptive and misleading statements, they have crossed the boundaries of decency by physically carrying out real criminal activities just to feed into their narrative and buttress the same, to gain popularity.

Imo people doubt the skills and competencies of those running against the incumbent governor. In terms of critical thinking, good communication, persuasion, contacts, leadership and integrity, Governor Hope Uzodimma has demonstrated a greater capacity to deliver.

Governor Uzodimma is more influential, has more problem-solving ability, is more confident and bold in handling difficult, contentious and challenging situations and circumstances. Simply put, the Governor represents, embodies and reflects the present hope of the Imo people.

Behind the mask of stoking fear of insecurity which they’ve used to cover their faces, the guber candidates of the opposition have not come across as great thinkers with promising programs and policies that are far more satisfactory than the ongoing improvements being witnessed in Imo State under Governor Hope Uzodimmma.

GOVERNOR UZODIMMA’S INDUSTRIAL POLICY PATHWAY ~ Prince Eze Ugochukwu

IMO STATE PUBLIC ENLIGHTENMENT

GOVERNOR UZODIMMA’S INDUSTRIAL POLICY PATHWAY

By. Prince Eze Ugochukwu

*”My vision is that the state will create jobs for its teeming youths through industrialisation”*
~ Governor Hope Uzodimma

*”As I seek re-election for a second term, my focus shall be on the industrialization of the State by engaging more private bodies and investors through Public Private Partnership (PPP) while consolidating on the infrastructural development of the State and sustenance of the peace and tranquillity we have restored”*
~ Governor Hope Uzodimma.

Across the world, public-private partnership ( PPP ) has become the standard for increasing economic and infrastructural development.
This partnership between public and private entities is based on sharing risks and rewards. The private sector invests its resources, including private capital, expertise, and skills in return for financial gain while the government provides the enabling environment and other types of equity participation.

For Imo State, the Governor has made it clear that his focus going forward will involve engaging more private bodies and investors through Public Private Partnership (PPP) while consolidating on the infrastructural development of the State.

Public-private partnership is at the root of financing of government infrastructure projects, and in looking for ways of creating lasting solutions, Governor Uzodimma is right in taking advantage of  public-private partnership (PPP).

Some of the biggest capital-intensive infrastructures we’ve seen in recent times in Nigeria were put in place through private sector involvement in the provision of public services. The Lekki-Epe Expressway, the domestic Wing of the Muritala Muhammed Airport General Aviation Terminal II and the Eko Atlantic City readily comes to mind. In the case of Imo State, the passion of the Governor to crack our infrastructural insufficiencies has been hampered by inadequate funding. So the involvement of the private sector will assist to generate not only the requisite funds but also manpower and expertise.

The PPP approach in Imo State was first applied with the Adapalm plantation when a new  management under Roche West Africa Limited was instituted. On that occasion,  Governor Uzodimma stated that the new public, private partnership arrangement underscores the determination of the Imo State Government to turn around the states economy through agriculture and industrialization.

His Excellency disclosed that the indigenes of the host communities are now co-owners of the company, assuring that going forward, indigenes “will no longer be spectators but co-owners of government companies sited in their communities.

The Governor emphasised that the new arrangement for Adapalm plantation is under a tripatriate agreement with the government,  the core-investor and the host communities as shareholders.

Governor Hope Uzodimma inherited a moribund Imo State where nothing was working. The roads were death traps, and not a single public enterprise was functional. What the Governor has done in the last three and half years was to build from scratch in an attempt to close infrastructure gaps in very critical sectors of the Imo State economy.

However, for a sub-national like Imo which sits at the heartland of South East Nigeria, a whole lot needs to be done to properly situate it as a tourism, agricultural, digital innovation and oil and gas hub. A functional international cargo airport, the dredging into the Atlantic, the oil and gas free trade zone, all will come at a huge cost. Only recently, a law allowing states  to generate and distribute electricity was signed into law. Imo state will want to delve into this.

These key projects that will modernize Imo State are not only constrained by limited resources at the disposal of government but likewise expertise and critical manpower which only the private sector can inject.

While launching the Imo State Industrial Policy in 2022, Governor Uzodimma made known his thinking when he said, “My dream of Imo State is that it will no longer depend on federal allocation for survival. My vision is that the state will create jobs for its teeming youths through industrialisation”

After a careful examination of the existing sectors and their potentials, the Imo State government in 2022 launched the Imo Industrial policy where the future of the Imo economy, and available opportunities were identified. The policy noted that the State is determined to align with the existing and emerging sectors and take advantage of the opportunities they offer.

These opportunities are huge. Therefore the Governors approach in partnering with the private sector on PPP arrangement is a clear policy direction for the State’s industrialisation which signifies a deliberate commitment to address the needs of the domestic economy and the people, first and foremost.

Planned Protest In Abuja – Another Comic Relief ~ Prince Eze Ugochukwu

IMO STATE PUBLIC ENLIGHTENMENT

Planned Protest In Abuja – Another Comic Relief

By: Prince Eze Ugochukwu

Comic relief is said to be the use of drama as relief from emotional tension, while external comic relief is when the audience laughs, but the characters themselves don’t. The audience finds it funny and laughs at the characters and their activities.

Another name for comic relief is tension reliever or amusement comedic interlude

PDP in Imo State is indeed enmeshed in emotional tension, apprehension and uncertainty. The name of the party itself is Tension.

There was tension over which faction was in charge of their presidential campaign funds, there was tension and anxiety over the inexplicable withdrawal of Rt. Hon Emeka Ihedioha from the party guber primary election, there was tension when the party postponed its primaries, there was tension when party stakeholders called for the cancellation of the delegates congress, there was a gathering of storm when stakeholders asked the governorship candidate to resign as the national secretary of the party.

Any organization with these amounts of headaches and tensions will attract laughter from the public especially when, instead of seeking a cure, they would rather embark on frolicking in a distant place.

It appears that the Imo PDP is overwhelmed and tired from internal crises and loss of focus. Maybe they decided to go to faraway Abuja to in order to gain a few moments of respite and lighten their downcast mood. Who knows.

But there are also tragic elements in a drama and we may be glimpsing at the tragic extinction of Imo PDP much sooner. The planned Abuja March-Past may be tragic in the sense that it may have been designed to provide a dignified cover to the pitiable, sorrowful and terrible condition of the party. A way to cover their non-acceptability by Imo people. The party has lost grounds and is in need of revamping its soul, and going to Abuja maybe the cleanser. Maybe.

We can also see the so-called planned Abuja protest as a drama that has typically exposed the human flaws and character weaknesses of those navigating the ship of Imo PDP. Unknown to them, they have triggered a devastating backlash from Imo people who see their action as demarketing Imo State at a time the state has stabilized from criminal incursions.

The laugh is on Imo PDP but they are not even aware due to human flaws and character weaknesses of those navigating their ship. External comic relief is when the audience laughs, but the characters themselves don’t. The audience finds it funny and laughs at the characters and their activities.

Is PDP not aware that Imo people are laughing at them? Are they not aware that their conduct has exposed infantile disposition and lack of preparedness to govern an enterprising people that constitutes the Imo population?

Their planned protest in Abuja is merely an avenue to provide an amusement comedic interlude and nothing else. And laugh we shall.
